Stick Guide

Choosing the right stick is the first step to unlocking your game. At Epix Hockey, every detail is built to help players feel confident, fast, and in control. Here's how to pick the perfect setup.

1

Handedness

Handedness is where choosing a stick begins. At Epix, we design both left and right curves to match how players naturally control the puck.

Left-Handed Stick

Left Hand

Your left hand goes lower on the shaft. This is the most common setup for right-hand-dominant players because the dominant hand controls the top of the stick for finesse.

Right-Handed Stick

Right Hand

Your right hand goes lower on the shaft. Players who feel stronger stickhandling with their left hand on top often choose this side.

Pro Tip: If you're unsure, imagine sweeping a broom or holding a baseball bat—whichever way feels natural usually matches your hockey handedness. Epix curves are shaped to keep puck control intuitive regardless of your choice.
2

Flex

Flex is how much the stick bends during a shot. Epix builds flex profiles to match different shooting styles rather than just body weight.

Lower Flex

Quicker release and easier loading

Higher Flex

More stored power for heavy shooters

3

Curve

Your blade curve shapes the way you shoot and stickhandle. Epix patterns are designed for specific player identities:

Mid Curves

For all-around balance

Toe Curves

For aggressive puck handlers

Heel Curves

For players who rely on strong passing and long-range shots

4

Lie

Lie determines how the blade sits on the ice in your natural stance. An Epix lie keeps the full blade engaged for maximum control. Too low and the toe pops up. Too high and the heel lifts. The right lie keeps your blade flat when you're moving at game speed.

5

Length

Measured in skates, your stick should land near your chin.

Shorter Sticks

Tighter handling and quicker movements

Longer Sticks

More reach and added leverage on shots

Epix cuts and finishes are designed to keep balance consistent whether you trim your stick or keep it full length.
6

Kick Point

Epix sticks come in shooting profiles built for your release:

LightSpeed Low

For quick-strike snipers

Neo-Mid Kick

For full-load power shooters

Synth Hybrid

For players who change gears depending on the play

7

Weight & Feel

The right stick should disappear in your hands. Epix focuses on balanced weight distribution so the stick feels light without sacrificing durability or shot stability.
